Our Blueberry Got Smashed

The boys and I were in a car accident yesterday.  Our blueberry is in the auto shop getting fixed.  I have a sprained spine/neck.  The boys seem to be fine, but I plan on replacing their car seats.  It was scary, though luckily it wasn't very high speed.  Our airbags did not deploy and we are for the most part fine.  After the impact, we spun 90 degrees.  When we came to a stop, Calvin looked at the truck that hit us and screamed in rage.  The scream was kind of funny to me, but I think he was really scared.  I'm glad we were all wearing seat belts and did not need emergency care.  I'm praying for my back to recover quickly, as well as a prayer of gratitude that it wasn't any worse.

Calvin's Spider Web House

I loved making blanket forts as a kid with my younger brothers and older sisters.  It was a fun adventure to try and build them, seeing how creative we could be to make our structures last through the play.  That is something I hope to continue with my kids as they get older.  I have crocheted a lot this month, and to keep Calvin from stealing the yarn I was using, I gave him a small green ball I wasn't using anymore.  Mark and he put together this blanket fort in Calvin's room.  Calvin really liked it and wanted us all to play in it with him.

Aggie Football

The company Mark works for donated a quarter of a million dollars to Utah State University.  As a "Thank You" for the contribution, the company was invited to welcome the football team onto the field.  We got free tickets and Mark got a free t-shirt.  It was fun to get out of the house and see the game.  I did get a little overwhelmed by the big crowd and Calvin's behavior, so we ended up leaving early.  Not to mention there wasn't a good place to feed Albric.  Next football game we go to, we will be better prepared.  It was the first game I attended as a parent.

Albric is Three Months Old

Wow.  The time goes by so quickly.  I have been busy taking care of my boys and making lavender sachets (I'll have to do a separate post about that) this month.  Albric is already 3 months old.  He is still sleeping through the night and is super chubby.  He loves his bouncer swing and his octopus.  He especially loves his family.  He absolutely hates being on his tummy.  He has rolled over on his own exactly once, and it wasn't intentional.

He has such a sweet spirit about him.  I think he looks a lot like Calvin did at this age, except he has lighter hair and dimples (both attributes that come from Mark).  I finally started working on switching him to bigger clothes, and he is already stretching them out.  I love to snuggle him and kiss him.  I love how big his smiles are when he sees me.  Sometimes he will get a huge smile and his dimples will be showing and he'll also stick his tongue out.  Sometimes he likes to 'talk' to me, and I love listening to his little coos.  I love my little "Bubby."

One of the rare times he was happy on his tummy.

He loves sleeping in his swing.

He also loves his octopus.

I was trying to capture his fohawk.  He was two cowlicks that swirl to meet in the middle, and then it all sticks up.

He had his swing and his octopus, and I was making faces at him.

This was on the day he turned 3 months.

Calvin had to be part of the photo shoot too.
My happy boy.  I can't get enough of him!!

Fall Semester 2016

Mark began school this week.  He is taking 7 credits and working full time as well as being a husband, father, and holding a calling in our ward.  He is super busy, but I still manage to hand the baby off to him so I can shower or cook dinner.  Last week, before school started, we were able to explore campus with him a little bit.  It was fun walking around and remembering happy times when we first started dating.  I am so proud of him.  He is taking calculus II and computer science III.  They are both difficult classes.  I'm praying that he will receive the heavenly help he needs to complete this semester.  I love him very much and I am so glad that he is working toward his goal of a Bachelor's Degree.  Here's hoping I can give him all the support he needs.

Daddy and Calvin climbed a tree.

I have a picture like this of me somewhere.  I hope he'll follow in our footsteps some day and be an Aggie.

Bonus picture of Calvin reading a book to Albric earlier that day.

Albric is Two Months Old

My baby boy is already two months old.  I love him so much.  How did we survive without him?  He is a chunky monkey and turns heads with his cheeks alone.  Strangers always tell me how cute he is, and I'm convinced that his cheeks are the culprit behind all the praise.  He has started to smile at me when I talk to him, and I absolutely love it.  It is my favorite thing to do with him.  I took him for a check up yesterday and he weighed in at 14 lbs.  That is 85th percentile for his age.  He was also slightly taller than average at 23 1/2 inches.  His baby hair fell out from the top of his head, but his hair is growing back.  He has two hair whorls going opposite directions and it looks like he may end up with a natural mohawk.  His hair is lighter than Calvin's was, but still has a hint of red in it.  His eyes are still blue and we are wondering if we'll have another blue-eyed kid.  He loves his brother and turns his head to hear what he is doing.

Huckleberry Camping 2016

Every year, the Lindsay clan goes huckleberry picking in Strawberry Canyon in Idaho.  One of our first dates was huckleberry picking.  I remember hiking up the mountain with the cutest boy I've ever interacted with and drinking Gossner's milk with him.  I love reminiscing about that day every year when huckleberry season comes around in August.  This year was a little different because I had a newborn and I felt like I should be home with him.  I sent Mark and Calvin for some Daddy/Son bonding time.  They camped overnight and I stayed home with Albric.  It was a good thing I stayed home this year because I got a migraine and it would have been no fun camping with a migraine.  I was able to go up the next morning though, so I didn't completely miss out on camping this year.  However, I did miss out on huckleberry picking because there weren't any huckleberries.  We still have a few in our freezer from last year to tide us over til next year.  Calvin had a good time playing with his extended family.  Albric enjoyed sleeping in my arms and nowhere else.  Mark had a good time camping.

Calvin only wore the helmet long enough for me to take a picture.  He was sad we wouldn't let him ride, but he refused to wear the helmet.  Maybe next year he will get to go for a ride.
