Bunny Bite

I've been trying to think of something to post about for my second monthly post.  I know most of you who check my blog have already heard about this, but Calvin got bitten by a bunny at Easter time.   Blossom had just been brought home to stay.  She was being cute and running around the living room.  Calvin was having some tummy time.  She jumped over his back a couple of times.  Then she paused at Calvin's hand.  At first I thought she was just smelling him, but then he started crying.  I picked him up and Mark noticed blood on me.  We washed his finger off, put a bandage on it, and then I nursed him to make him feel better.  Poor little thing.  It was difficult to keep a bandage on his tiny thumb because he kept putting it in his mouth.  It split open a couple of times.  Now it is all healed and he has four scars on his little thumb.  Next time we will have to be more careful around baby animals.

The injury.  The bite went through his thumb nail.

He was pretty brave.

Yard Work

The Lindsays have been blessed with good weather lately, and we have been trying to take advantage of it.  We were able to do some cleaning up of our yard during General Conference weekend.  The front yard is cleared of leaves and garbage.  Most of the doggy poop is picked up on the side yard.  All the dead, dried out weeds are gone.  Finally, the fire pit is cleaned of cigarettes and is usable again.  Now to attack the leaves in the backyard and take down the old, broken trampoline.  We are looking forward to making our backyard a fun place to be.
Calvin was very helpful by taking a nap.

Look at that hottie!!

Bianca helped too.

Enjoying the fire.

Mobility

My little buddy is growing too quickly for my liking.  A couple of days ago I was watching him during tummy time.  He twisted himself through a complete circle, and then another quarter turn.  He even dragged his favorite toy (a burp cloth) with him part of the way.  Then he rolled onto his back.  I was so amazed I wanted to share it here.  Of course he is my little stinker and won't cooperate for pictures.  I tried quite a few times, but he would always start crying and stop moving.  Here are some pictures I did get.

He'll be crawling before I know it. I love this little guy.

First Dam Time

I'm trying to get in better shape after being pregnant.  I decided that walking is a good place to start.  I thought it would be fun if I could walk to First Dam from my apartment and check out the birds while there.  I can go walking and birding.  I mapped it out and figured out a route that would be about 5 miles total.  On Friday, I convinced Mark to come with me for my first trip all the way to First Dam.  I made waffles for breakfast, and we took the leftovers with us to feed the birds.  We passed a little diner called Herm's Inn that we wanted to go to for lunch (unfortunately, they were closed when we got there). We spent about a half hour feeding the birds and watching their antics.  Then we headed back. It was a little windy and Calvin wasn't happy about that.  Mark bundled him up in his coat and carried him for a while to make him happy.  We took a little detour on the way home and the walk ended up being about 5.75 miles.  I am hoping we'll go again this weekend and that we'll get to check out that diner this time.

Three Months

My little Calvin James is three months old today.  It seems the time has passed quickly.  Three months ago we were snuggling together in the hospital, getting to know each other.  A few things about my precious boy:  He LOVES to stand up.  He just thinks he is big stuff when he stands up.  He is a wonderful eater and a fabulous sleeper.  He enjoys bath time, but doesn't really enjoy tummy time.  His favorite song is "Families Can Be Together Forever."  It's the cutest thing, he calms down whenever we sing it to him.  (Update: sometimes he'll 'sing' it with me.) He really loves his mommy, and his mommy loves him more and more every day.  I have loved the past three months with my little buddy.

Valentine's Ties

I made the costumes for our swing team this year, and as part of the costumes I sewed bow ties for our leads.  Mark found the pattern and made himself a practice tie and learned how to tie it.  He got really excited and bought the fabric for some ties for himself.  I finally put them together and gave them to him on Valentine's day.  Here he is modeling them all.

Here is a bonus picture of Calvin sucking his thumb for the first time.

8 Weeks

Calvin is 8 weeks old now.  It's pretty crazy how quickly the time goes by.  He rolled over from his tummy to his back for the first time tonight.  I was pretty excited.  I tried to get him to do it a second time, but he got pretty upset.  I love it when he tries to get my attention and then gives me a big smile.  He is so quick to smile at me and Mark.  I absolutely love him.
