Graduation Day!!

Yesterday I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  I am so grateful to have finally achieved this lifelong goal.  I have learned several things over the last five years.  I am grateful to my wonderful husband Mark for supporting me financially and emotionally for the last three years.  I am so blessed to be where I am today.
Here I am after convocation.  Mark got me some roses.

This is me with my favorite professor, Andy Anderson.

I gave Mark my stole of gratitude because of all he did for me.  P.S. Doesn't he look foxy? P.P.S. There are three Lindsays in this photo!

Merry Christmas from the Lindsays

Mark and Bianca on Christmas morning.

Bianca isn't too pleased with her gift...

Yay!  I fixed the "necklace" with my sewing machine. Bianca was a good sport to sit for a pic.

Merry Christmas everyone!!  I hope you all had a great day.  We all got in the holiday spirit, even Bianca.  Mark got her the Santa hat and necklace. The necklace was broken, but I fixed it with my new sewing machine I unwrapped for Christmas.  Mark got a few power tools from me.  We spent Sunday night celebrating with the Johnson clan and having a riot playing Bingo with the kids, playing White Elephants without the kids, and getting involved in the Nativity scene.  On Christmas day we partied with the Lindsays and got great food and great gifts.  It was great to be able to see all of my family and spend some time with them.

What I Do At Work

I painted this earwig.  Her paint is drying.  The forceps are so she can't get away.

Look!  A Patriotic Earwig.  Red, White, and Blue.

These are my paintbrushes.

The paints.  We've been using the top six colors, and we just added "plum" to the mix yesterday.
I paint earwigs as part of a Capture-Mark-Recapture study at USU.  We capture them from a study farm in Kaysville and take them back to Logan.  I mark them, then put them into a little cup with a cotton ball dipped in water and one kernel of pollen to keep them alive until we release them.  Last Wednesday we released 1200 earwigs.  We put up little cardboard rolls to capture them.  Then, we go out to the farm and open the cardboard traps and see if any of my marked ones have been recaptured.  It's Science...

Fruits of My Labor

We found an old (and by old I mean it was made in 1967) food dehydrator at DI.  It was only $5 but it works great.  Oh, the joy of DI.  I've been experimenting with it.
Apple rings and Banana chips.

Movin' on Up (or is it down...?)

After almost six months of living together in this tiny attic apartment, Mark and I are moving... to the basement.  Mark's younger brother lived there until Saturday.  The basement apartment is bigger and doesn't have the whole sloped ceiling issue.  The oven is bigger and newer, we'll be able to have a bed frame underneath our mattress, and we'll be able to fit our dinner table in the kitchen instead of in the corner of the family room.  While this could have come at a better time (Two tests, one presentation and one paper all due next week...) I'm glad we get to move out of this tiny apartment.  We do have plenty of good memories here though.

O Christmas Tree

Here is a picture of our Christmas tree and our stockings.
